Muskegon River Fishing

Muskegon river has been hard to fish all spring. You better be fishing in the right spot or your wasting your time. I've ran charters all spring and the fish have been isolated in sections of the rive unlike I've ever seen it. We've had to follow the Stealhead around like were chasing our tails. First the fish couldn't run far enough . Pushing to Croton with nowhere else to run. After the gates shut the fish fell back . The only fish you could find were walleye. The lower stretches have been so dirty the the fish that are usualy there either kept going or they just finished their spawn and left. Now if you want to find good fish you need to concentrate on the Newago area. The first problem there is the fish are so pressured you better be skillful and patient to get them going. The second and main issue is the plentiful attitudes. A good portion of the river guides that are working together will push you out of a spot. They like to drop into your spot after you pull anchor to land a fish. The fish are plentiful . I just concentrate on being patient and deal with these guys by setting a good example instead of letting them wrap me up in the nonsense. Muskegon Stealhead fishing near Newago is still going strong.
